Is it time to spring clean your life?

As a lifestyle coach, I understand how important it is to take a holistic view of your life. Knowing that when something isn’t working in one area, no matter how small, it can impact other aspects of your life.

In today’s blog, I want to invite you to undertake a ‘spring clean’ to your life

With the Spring Equinox taking place around March 20th and the arrival of British Summer Time in the UK, both events marking the end of Winter and the beginning of Spring, it’s the perfect time for renewal and rejuvenation.

With the brighter longer, slightly warmer 🤞,  I’ve felt the urge to not only clean my home but also to refresh my life. Spring cleaning isn’t just about dusting shelves and scrubbing floors; it’s about refreshing every aspect of your life. declutter your mind, nourish your body and spirit. Organising your surroundings, and aligning your finances with your desires, you can embark on a journey of renewal and transformation this spring.

I hope you’ll join me or get inspired to undertake your own spring clean.

I have picked some areas that you could focus on along with some ideas for making improvements below.

YOU

  • Reorganise Your Wardrobe: Go through your wardrobe and maybe it’s time to take out the winter clothes and replace with more spring/summer clothes. Try on different outfits, wear accessories that you haven’t for a while, see how you feel, and it might be time to update your style. Just have fun!
  • I am not a believer in if you haven’t worn it for a year get rid, I have clothes that I have had for over 30 years, that still look new because I haven’t work them much but feel good when do – can feel like having something new too.
  • Make Up or Hair Revamp – Is it time to go through the old make up, see if you still like it and wear it or try out some new colours. I think that I night even invest in a make up session with a professional, as I feel like I want to try something new.
  • Explore Your Spiritual Side: Read more on this or take some workshops or day courses, that could help you explore this further.
  • Connect with Nature: Spend time outdoors connecting with the beauty of nature. Take walks in the park, practice gardening, or simply sit and enjoy the sights and sounds around you.
  • Nurture Your Soul: Engage in activities that nourish your soul, whether it’s through reading, meditation, or creative activities.
  • Seek Out Like-minded Individuals: Those who share similar interest or beliefs and values, where you can connect and grow together.

HOME

  • Declutter & Organise: Start with one room or a space that you want to organise. I’m starting with drawers in my bedroom, getting them organised and getting rid of anything that no longer serves me or I want to keep. So that will be make up, old socks/tights/tops and underwear that time and declutter your living spaces. Then I’ll donate what’s suitable and feel great in both clear out cluttered space and giving to charity.
  • Create a Relaxing Environment: Add touches that help you feel more relaxed, such as candles, plants, or try moving furniture or pictures around, sometime that can really transform how you feel in a space.
  • Refresh Furniture: Paint or re-paint furniture to give you a whole new look to a room. I think that this is a real game changer sometimes, especially with wooden chairs and table legs or cupboards. I love a project!
  • Deep Clean: Once the clutter is cleared, deep clean your home. This includes dusting, vacuuming, mopping, windows. Whatever makes you feel cleansed.

MIND

  • Declutter Your Thoughts: Take time to clear mental clutter for increased focus and reduced stress.
  • Embrace Positivity: Surround yourself with positivity. Challenge negative thoughts and replace them with more positive thoughts and affirmations if you can.
  • Continue to Seek Growth: Engage in activities that stimulate your mind, such as learning a new skill or hobby. Keep your brain active and curious.
  • Let Go of Negativity: Identify toxic thought patterns or negative self-talk. Replace them with positive affirmations and feelings.

BODY

  • Eat Well: Spring clean your diet by incorporating more fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Hydrate and limit processed foods and sugar.
  • Prioritise Sleep: Ensure you’re getting enough quality sleep each night. Create a bedtime routine and limit screen time before bed to improve sleep quality. If you can afford it try getting a really good pillow and duvet. I found that once I started to invest in bedding, I loved my bed more and love my bedroom more, because the bed looks so nice, with lovely cushions and throw on too.
  • Get the lighting right, I have a Himalayan lamp that just gives off enough light that I can read, but still provides a soft warm feeling to the room.
  • Move Your Body: Find joy in movement by engaging in activities you love, whether it’s yoga, dancing, or simply taking a daily walk.
  • Schedule Fun: Make time for activities that bring you joy and laughter. Prioritise self-care and relaxation to recharge your body and mind.

WORK/CAREER/BUSINESS

  • Evaluate Goals: Reflect on your career and business goals and assess if you’re on the right path. Set actionable goals for professional growth and development. Are you happy with your current path, or is it time for a change?
  • Professional Development: Invest in your career by seeking opportunities for growth and development. This could involve taking courses, attending workshops, or seeking mentorship.
  • Streamline Tasks: Can you look at your most regular tasks and do things to help simplify them. So that you get them done quicker and there is less chance of procrastination setting in.   For me, I started to put my phone in another room and set a timer to get thing done, without distraction. It works!

FINANCES

  • Review Budget: Do you keep track of your spending and use a budget? If no, it might be worth starting one (see this blog for some help & my simple budget worksheet – Six valuable insights I’ve gained through my financial journey over 40) create a budget that aligns with your financial goals. Cut unnecessary expenses and prioritise saving. If that what you want to do.
  • Debt Management: Develop a plan to pay off any outstanding debt and avoid accumulating more debt in the future.
  • Plan for the Future: Consider long-term financial planning, such as retirement savings and investments. Seek professional advice if needed to optimise your financial strategy. Its definitely worth it, I buried my head in the sand around money and planning for the future for years, but with the right help you can really take control of your future.
  • Cultivate a Positive Money Mindset: Can you start to feel gratitude towards your financial situation, regardless of its current state. Focus on abundance rather than scarcity, the mind is really powerful, and it could change how you perceive money, if that’s an area that you want to focus on.

Spring is a time for growth and renewal. By undertaking a spring clean of your life, you can create space for new opportunities and experiences. Embrace this season of transformation and embark on a journey towards a happier, healthier, and more fulfilling life.
