4 Ways to Add More Curiosity & Adventure to Your Life

Today I wanted to talk to you about ways to add some adventure and curiosity in your daily life.

And by adventure, that doesn’t mean that you have to climb to Everest Base Camp (although I have). No, you don’t need to conquer Everest to feel the thrill—everyday experiences can be just as exhilarating, and I like to take my spirit of adventure and curiosity into my daily life too.

Hopefully you can resonate with this too. I know how easily I can get fixed in a daily routine following the same pattern day in and day out. While routines are essential, it’s equally crucial to recognise when you settle too comfortably into your comfort zone and need a little shake-up. Even making small changes and just stepping outside your comfort zone or routine can lead to big personal wins.

How often have you been sitting scrolling through social media, looking at other people lives thinking that they ‘have it covered’ and seem to be doing interesting things all the time. It’s easy to feel a tang of jealousy or envy, I’ve been there. But the truth is, adventure doesn’t always have to be extreme or grand. It’s about finding joy in the little things.

The Importance of Adventure and Trying New Things:

Expanding Your Skills & Knowledge: Trying new things not only allows you to expand on your own skills and knowledge, but it also helps to makes you a more interesting person, sparking engaging conversations with a wealth of experiences to share.

2. Improves Gut Instincts: By experiencing more you allow yourself to know what you do and don’t really like, reinforcing that you can trust our own instincts on things.

3. Be Curious: Do approach life with a curious mindset. Reading diverse genres, learning a new skill, or attending workshops. Even taking a different route to work or visiting a nearby park or local attraction that you have never been to can help to stimulate your curiosity and wonder.

4. Create an Adventure List: Start by creating a list of small adventures or new things you’d like to try. From trying a new cafe or recipe to attending a local show, jot down ideas that spark your curiosity. Make it a satisfying checklist to boost your sense of accomplishment.

When I Feel Like the Mundane is Taking Over, I Will:

  • Look at my diary and see where I have free dates first.
  • Google independent cinemas and local theatres for new films and shows.
  • Look up new cafes and restaurants that I have been meaning to visit and book a table to ensure that I go.
  • I will consider taking spontaneous getaways by checking cheap flights.

I will go on my own or I will buy another ticket and invite the person that I think will enjoy that experience most. Although some of my friends may ask, “What are you dragging me to now, Sarah?” It’s a new experience for them too, making it a win-win all around!

Some practical examples for you could include trying a new café as a workplace, a new recipe, going to a show or play. Whatever it is that you choose to do, don’t get overwhelmed by it—just try one thing and see how you feel.

Benefits of Embracing Everyday Adventure

Stimulating our bodies and minds through being curious and adventurous, has a positive impact on our overall physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Take time to do some self-reflection and the appreciation of life’s small joys.

So, whether you’re sipping coffee at a new cafe, trying a recipe, or attending a local play, remember that adventure is a mindset. Embrace the everyday, face your fears, try new things, and let curiosity be your constant companion. After all, life’s greatest adventures are often hidden in plain sight.
